The James takes private events at four sizes, and the smallest is a table of 20. The private dining room is properly separate from the main floor — quiet enough for an executive lunch, or for a table that has something to discuss — and the service is run to that table rather than to the room at large.

Half the restaurant can be booked on its own. The north section seats 54 and keeps the scale of a full dining room; the south seats 40 and is the one furnished with wicker chairs. Neither is walled off, so a party keeps a space of its own without losing the life of the room.

Taken in full, the dining room holds 114 seated for a banquet. The events team works through menus, timings and the running order before the day arrives, so the room is set the way you want it by the time the first guest walks in.

Group dining

For groups of 10-25, we offer the choice between our Classic set menu or Premium set menu.

Please note, our menus are subject to change without notice. A 10% gratuity applies to the final bill, and a 10% weekend surcharge applies on Saturdays & Sundays.

The James seats 114 with the dining room entirely yours — dark, warm, and set up so the room does most of the work. The team runs the evening from start to finish.

Short of that, the north section seats 54 and the south section, with its wicker chairs, seats 40; both stay connected to the rhythm of the room. The private dining room seats 20 and is properly separate, which suits an executive lunch or a table that needs to talk.
